Designed as a full extension of the existing home, the addition features a natural material palette anchored by wide-plank hardwood floors ranging from 9 to 14 inches in width—an uncommon detail that adds character, warmth, and a sense of craftsmanship. Ralph Lauren interior paint, custom millwork, and carefully placed architectural windows elevate the interiors with both richness and clarity. Every room is oriented toward the water, ensuring Candlewood Lake becomes a permanent backdrop to daily living.
The structure is arranged across multiple levels, with living spaces located above and below a massive garage that anchors the addition to the hillside. The layout is designed for fluid circulation, connecting indoor living spaces to outdoor terraces and an elevated deck that rises more than 100 feet above the lake. Generous glazing, precise structural framing, and custom-designed openings allow natural light to travel freely through the home while framing panoramic lake views from every vantage point.
The upper level features a warm, inviting living area with vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, and custom trapezoid windows that draw in the surrounding trees and water. Below, a spacious entertainment level includes a handcrafted bar and lounge space, designed for year-round hosting and relaxation. A private sauna adds a resort-like element, creating a space dedicated to restoration and wellbeing.
Outdoor living is central to the experience of the Horizon Lake Residence. The expansive Ipe deck extends along the lakeside façade, supported by a custom structural system of steel beams and columns designed to meet the demands of the steep cliffside terrain. A glass railing system with integrated LED lighting preserves uninterrupted views of Candlewood Lake while creating a refined evening atmosphere. The result is a seamless outdoor environment built for both quiet relaxation and effortless entertaining, merging engineering precision with natural beauty.
The Horizon Lake Residence embodies the balance between thoughtful engineering and natural landscape. Built into the contours of the hillside, the addition connects the home to the lake through intentional framing, warm materials, and modern architectural detailing. Every component—from the handcrafted interiors to the steel-reinforced deck structure—was designed to withstand the elements while celebrating the surrounding environment. More than an addition, it is an elevated lakeside living experience, shaped around views, craftsmanship, and the unique character of Candlewood Lake.
