Located in the scenic hills of Kent, this project focused on creating a spacious and cohesive addition that enhanced both functionality and visual flow throughout the home. The existing layout was expanded and transformed through a carefully executed combination of structural work, custom finishes, and high-quality craftsmanship.
The heart of the renovation is the completely remodeled kitchen—featuring custom cabinetry, a large central island, upgraded appliances, and abundant natural light from the surrounding windows and overhead skylight. Wide-plank hardwood flooring runs continuously through the kitchen and into the new living and dining spaces, bringing warmth and balance to the open layout.
Unique craftsmanship is showcased through a custom inlaid compass medallion, hand-selected hardwoods, and precision flooring patterns that define each room while maintaining cohesion. The new breakfast nook, wrapped in detailed millwork and surrounded by windows, creates a serene place to enjoy the surrounding mountain views.
A truly stunning feature of the addition is the stone fireplace—built with hand-picked natural river rock and accented with rustic timber beams that anchor the vaulted ceiling. This space creates a warm, lodge-inspired focal point for the home while maintaining the elegance and comfort expected in a modern Connecticut residence.
The exterior portion of the project included extensive framing, structural support for the expanded footprint, and integration with the existing home’s design. Starting from the wooded property and working up the hillside, the addition was built to be both durable and architecturally consistent with the natural landscape.
